The Institute
for Animal Care Education is an international organisation
that aims to promote the quality of education within the
animal care industry. It was founded in 1996 and fulfils
the requirement for a governing body within the animal
care sector focussed purely on high standards of education
and the needs of the animal welfare industry.
The organisation aims to promote the standards in animal
care both at national and international levels and has
members worldwide, including Canada, Russia and Africa.
Applications for membership are invited from those who
possess a qualification in animal studies recognised by
the institute.
The Institute consists of members who have completed recognised
courses or demonstrate educational achievement in a relevant
field. An appointed executive council is responsible for
the day to day running and also decides the appointment
of a panel who agree codes of practice and standards within
external organisations who run public courses.
They also appoint external verifiers to ensure that the
animal welfare and educational standards are maintained.
